Fall Colors in Michigan

Michigan in the Autumn is rather spectacular. This is a set of fall shots that tries to capture the breadth of colors and the warmth of light which I find unique to this season.

This set of photos contains some of the picts I took while strolling around under the warm autumnal sun in the vicinity of Ann Arbor. The Leslie Nature Center and Bird Hills were my regular leg-stretching locales this year.

There are also a few that were taken on our brotherhood center property in Chelsea during one of my days off.

East Coast May Vacation 2011

An delightful 10 day vacation road-trip to the East coast of the USA. Brian and I did an overnight in the Smokies, TN. We then spent a week on Fripp Island in SC. And then moseyed up to Middeltown, MD for a couple days.

Montréal 2011

A gorgeous four day visit that yielded a few interesting photos. Snakes and mushrooms were the highlight of my afternoon hike in the Laurentians. Whilst in the city, I thoroughly enjoyed the company of very dear friends, cool sights, and delicious food.

I took the train from Windsor and had lots of time to and from this glorious city to contemplate, meditate, and ruminate on life, the universe, and everything. The conclusion: 42.

Butterflies

I love visiting aquariums. I’m not sure why. It doesn’t matter, I love ‘em! Taking pictures in aquariums is a different matter. I’m discovering that’s not an easy affair.

Glass bends, refracts, distorts light in strange ways. Water does so in even stranger ways it seems. Lighting is often difficult to work with.

All this conspires to make good pictures hard to come by. No matter, the pleasure of seeing sea creatures will not be obfuscated by a lack of photos: I still love aquariums!
